For our visit to Lindsborg, Kansas, we scheduled our arrival on a Friday evening. After driving for a couple of hours, we were really in the mood for dinner. Fortunately, there are plenty of good options located in “Little Sweden USA”. As we scoped out the lay of the land, we decided to start right in the heart of the city. The main drag has a mix of businesses that include some unique eateries. It looked like we had found our first tastes of Lindsborg.
We want to thank Visit Lindsborg and Farley’s Bar & Grill for their hospitality. Rest assured all opinions are our own.
Finding Our First Tastes of Lindsborg
As we parked along Main Street, our attention was captured by a nearby two-tone building in downtown Lindsborg. This building is home to Farley’s Bar and Grill. It seemed to be attracting a steady stream of customers, so we decided to join in on the fun. With a mix of older architecture and modern accents, our interest was certainly riding high. Time to check it out.
Popular Hangout
Inside, we found that it was pretty roomy but completely full. We decided that it must be worth the wait, so we put our name in for a table. A short wait and we were being seated. I took a few minutes to capture a couple of shots of the space, before sitting down to scour the menu. We examined their specialties to determine what our first tastes of Lindsborg would be that evening. Our server helped point out a couple of her favorites and soon we had our order in.
Trying Something New
Being a Friday evening, I decided to sample one of their adult beverages. My beer drinking days are pretty much behind me, but I still enjoy a tasty hard cider. The idea of sampling a Swedish version was too tempting to pass up, so I ordered one. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Mango-Raspberry combination, but it ended up being rather tasty. Served up in an ice-cold mug added an extra level of delight to this refreshing drink.
Tropical Tastes
Crystal can almost be predictable, as she often gravitates toward chicken strips. At Farley’s Bar & Grill, they offer up a nice variation on her standard. The Coconut Chicken Tenders deliver a nice change with a sweet crunch. Their spicy and sweet dipping sauce brings even more flavors to bear on the dish. Paired with a side of fries, it was obvious that she was happy with her menu choice.
Kickin’ Old School
I decided that a tasty burger would best accompany my beverage. When I spotted the BBQ Burger, I figured the combination would be interesting. A cheeseburger base is stacked with bacon, onion rings, and drizzled with a tangy barbecue sauce. This deliciously, yet messy meal had me coming back for bite after bite. The crispy fries were the perfect side for my first tastes of Lindsborg.
Successful Start
Our first stop in Lindsborg had been a great success. With plenty of sunshine left, we decided to take a little walk around the downtown area. Although many of the shops were closed by then, it allowed us a chance to layout our game plan for a full Saturday of exploring. It also introduced us to some of the Dala Horses that dot the city. (You can read more about this unique creation here.) We were definitely in for lots of interesting experiences, and these first tastes of Lindsborg were setting the tone for a great visit. Have you ever visited this distinctly Swedish city?
