On our way home from our Indiana-Michigan road trip, we made a detour to Casey, Illinois. This small town is famous for its giant-sized attractions, known as the “World’s Largest” items. Armed with a map and a sense of adventure, we were ready to explore. It didn’t take long to realize that this charming town is all about going big.

Plenty of Pork
One of the most amusing stops on our hunt was the World’s Largest Piggy Bank. This massive coin collector, painted a cheerful pink, stands proudly outside a local butcher shop. The irony wasn’t lost on us as we chuckled at the unexpected pairing. It felt like a playful nod to saving up—or spending—for the town’s offerings. With its coin slot wide enough to fit a stack of quarters, the piggy bank served as a fun photo op and a conversation starter about Casey’s unique sense of humor.

Ringing in the News
We couldn’t resist snapping a selfie with the World’s Largest Wind Chimes, but we decided to add some humor. Pretending it was deafeningly loud, we covered our ears and pulled exaggerated faces. In reality, the chimes emitted a soft, melodic tone that was anything but noisy. The towering structure, surrounded by lush greenery, created a peaceful backdrop for our playful photo. It’s moments like this that make exploring Casey so fun—turning every stop into a chance to laugh and create memories.

Take Note of the World's Largest Things
Our adventure wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the World’s Largest Pencil. Stretching nearly 33 feet long, this enormous writing tool is a writer’s dream come true. Positioned outside a local office supply store, it’s a clever nod to creativity and practicality. Jeff, always ready with a quip, joked about needing a sharpener the size of a car. We loved the attention to intricate details, including the bright yellow paint and the perfectly crafted eraser. This oversized pencil reminded us of the importance of thinking big, no matter the medium.

World's Largest Classics
Two of our favorites from Casey, Illinois, are the World’s Largest Rocking Chair and Mailbox. The towering rocking chair, painted in warm wood tones, looked ready to host a giant for story time. The huge mailbox, complete with a staircase to the top, added a splash of whimsy to the town. The contrast between these two massive creations showcased the town’s knack for turning everyday objects into extraordinary landmarks. Together, they made for a perfect pairing in our collection of “World’s Largest” memories.

Trapped in Casey
As our day in Casey, Illinois, came to an end, we found ourselves face-to-face with the World’s Largest Mousetrap. Its oversized wooden frame and metal spring were hilariously intimidating. Naturally, we couldn’t resist posing as “trapped” tourists caught in its clutches. It felt like the perfect metaphor for our visit—this charming little town lures you in with its creativity and keeps you hooked with its lighthearted spirit. Casey proved that even the smallest places can leave a big impression, and we left with full hearts, big smiles, and plenty of photos to share.
