When constructed, this 13-story hotel was the tallest structure in Winnipeg. The accommodations at the Fort Garry Hotel reflect its commitment to luxury. Each room is thoughtfully designed with plush bedding, classic decor, and modern amenities, ensuring a restful retreat after exploring the city. Our room offered stunning views of the Assiniboine River and the city’s French District, St. Boniface. The hotel’s attention to detail and dedication to guest comfort made our stay remarkable.
First Impressions
Upon entering the Fort Garry Hotel, we were immediately enveloped by an atmosphere of timeless elegance. The hotel’s grand lobby, adorned with crystal chandeliers and intricate plasterwork, invited us to pause and soak in its historical ambiance. The original wooden furnishings and marble accents tell a story of opulence that has been preserved throughout the years. This architectural gem has maintained its charm while adapting to the needs of contemporary travelers, making it a perfect blend of old-world allure and modern convenience.
Classic Touches
In addition to its aesthetic appeal and prime location, the Fort Garry Hotel offers plenty of other reasons to stay. The hotel’s commitment to providing a memorable experience at an accessible price point made it a great choice for our home base in Winnipeg. We enjoyed wandering the various spaces, during our down times. Each floor adds its unique touches of pizzazz. We even heard rumors that it could be haunted, but we never ran into any spirits.
Fine Dining
Beyond its luxurious accommodations, the Fort Garry Hotel boasts a rich culinary scene that enhances the guest experience. The hotel’s signature restaurant, the Fort Garry Lounge, offers a menu highlighting local ingredients and flavors, providing a taste of Manitoba’s culinary heritage. We enjoyed an elegant breakfast at their newest eatery, Oval Room Brasserie. Our dining experience was enhanced by the hotel’s historic ambiance, making our meal memorable. I’m unsure how Crystal’s Avocado Toast tasted, but my Eggs Benedict was perfect.
