Running a travel blog means that we have the opportunity to stay in lots of hotels. Many of them are your standard lodging choices, which each have their own unique style. Every once in a while we visit one that is completely out of the ordinary. Such is the case with Chateau Avalon in the Village West District of Kansas City, Kansas. This boutique style hotel sets itself apart from other hotels by offering a fun and adventurous atmosphere designed primarily for couples.
We want to thank the Visit Kansas City, Kansas and Chateau Avalon for their hospitality. Rest assured that all opinions are our own.
French Romance
Our stay was planned for a Friday night, so we were already in weekend mode when we arrived. A rainy day couldn’t dampen our spirits, as we were excited to see what this place held in store for us. From the moment we entered the front door, we were transported to a French chateau. We could imagine this hotel setting on the edge of the rolling hills of a winery in the french countryside. Check-in was easy and soon we were heading to our room.
Traveling to Tuscany
While the hotel exudes French charm, our room was the Tuscany Suite, which transported us to an Italian villa. The fireplace was already going, which helped us beat back the chill that the rainy day had brought with it. Crystal made a beeline for the fireplace to warm up, while I explored the suite. The furniture and decor accented the feeling of being in Italy.
Picturesque Views
Many of the hotels we visit offer wonderful views outside of the windows. At Chateau Avalon some of the best views can be found right inside the rooms. I climbed the staircase to our sleeping area and discovered a fantastic view of the in-room spa tub. Nestled inside of an alcove, it is flanked by faux marble columns. It exudes the feeling of being in a centuries old Tuscan village. We would certainly be enjoying a warm soak later this evening.
Time To Mingle
Once we had unpacked our bag, we decided to head down to the in-house bar for some refreshments. The D’Nile Bar is decorated with an Egyptian theme and keeps the fun vibe flowing. Here we met Pat, our bartender, who is somewhat of a local celebrity. He has an amazing sense of humor, which helps break the ice with the wide range of guests who are staying at the hotel. We let him pick our drinks and soon everyone was chatting like old buddies. When you visit, ask Pat about his BBQ Martini. After dinner, we returned to the bar to find that they had set up karaoke. We joined them for a nightcap, but refrained from sharing my golden voice with them. (They don’t even realize the pain I saved them. Lol)
Call it a Night
We hung around the bar for a couple of drinks, but soon we were ready to head back to our Italian oasis. We returned to the quiet of our room, which was only interrupted by the gurgling sounds of marble fountain. Chateau Avalon offers some romantic extras that allow guests to build their own unique experience. Our package was the Deluxe Romance, which includes sparkling wine, a package of mineral bath gel, turndown service with silk rose petals, and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. A relaxing soak in the spa tub helped prepare us for a wonderful night’s sleep.
Starting The Day in Luxury
Before we went to bed, we filled out our breakfast order and left the card hanging outside of our door. The next morning we were delighted when the wait staff knocked to announce the delivery. A hearty breakfast accompanied by some coffee helped start our day right. We sat and dined, while we made our plans for the day. With checkout a few hours away, we still had time to enjoy the tranquil beauty of our Tuscan hideaway. Too soon it was time for us to head back out into the real world, but we left with the memories of our stay. What memories will you make with a visit to this unique boutique hotel? Check out their suites and tell us which one you would want to stay in.
